The Rotary Club of Sechelt has been very involved under the stewardship of Margie Garrard along with Friends of Rotary of placing herring curtains along docks to assist greater spawning. My wife and I recently visited the Sechelt Arts Gallery to view an exhibition of harvesting herring. As the video shows the herring support much life throughout the food chain of the sea. Stephanie Woollard began Seven Women at age 22 after meeting seven disabled women working in a tin shed in Kathmandu.
These seven women were struggling to make a living in the face of harsh discrimination. With her last $200, Steph paid for a trainer to teach the women how to produce products for sale locally and abroad - and Seven Women was born. Read more
