Shíshálh Nation opened the festival with a blessing followed by drumming and dancing before the release of young Salmon. Children and adults participated as the young Coho and Chinook Salmon were released into Chapman Creek. A wonderful day for all.
The Sunshine Coast Pride Dance Committee consists of a group of fun loving and caring local LGBTQ volunteers. Pride Day is June 2 being celebrated at Mission Point. More
syíyaya Days began in 2022 with a partnership between the District of Sechelt, the shíshálh Nation, and the syíyaya Reconciliation Movement. The multi-day event starts on June 21 National Indigenous Peoples Day and wraps up with a community parade on Canada Day.
